Exhibition of 2000 years of Indian Architecture

The “Photo Exhibition of 2000 years of Indian Architecture” with photos showing the Indian architecture has been opened at the Erciyes University (ERü).

The opening of the exhibition at the Sabancı Culture Site had been performed by India’s Ambassador in Ankara Rahul Kulshreshth and ERü Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammed Güven.

At the opening Rahul Kulshreshth expressed gratitude towards Güven for accepting to host the exhibition.

Contribution of books to the Indology department

Emphasizing the need to increase the cultural cooperation between the two countries, Kulshreshth said: “We came here to visit and support the Indology department of the Erciyes University. This department is shouldering an important task in the cultural cooperation of the two countries. We contribute books to the Indology department. We will provide all kinds of support in order for the Indology department to become more active.”

Mentioning that due to the exhibition people can get an idea about Indian architecture, Kulshreshth said: “You shall see that the architectural culture of the past has become a part of present day Indian culture. The second Indology department is at your university. I believe that with your contribution relations between Turkey and India will further develop.”

Emphasizing that India is a large civilization, Rector Güven expressed that the country’s economy, industry, information technology and automotive sectors will develop fast and that on a number of fields exchange can take place between the two countries.

After the speeches, Ambassador Kulshreshth gave information to Güven regarding the exhibition which will end tomorrow.

At the exhibition photos of 44 Indian-Muslim architecture and 38 photos of temples, castles, palaces and caves in India are displayed.

Before the exhibition, Ambassador Kulshreshth paid a visit to Rector Prof. Dr. Güven at his office.

Güven however, requested academic support for the Indology department.

India’s Ambassador in Ankara Rahul Kulshreshth visited the Mayor of the Kayseri Municipality Mustafa çelik from the AK Party. Ambassador Kulshreshth that Kayseri is a very nice planned orderly city.

The Mayor of the Kayseri Municipality Mustafa çelik welcomed India’s Ambassador in Ankara Rahul Kulshreshth at his office. Mayor çelik gave information regarding Kayseri to Kulshreshth and said that Kayseri is the regional centre of attraction for industry, trade, tourism, health and education. Expressing that the most important source of Kayseri is its enterprising people, Mayor çelik said: “Our enterprising people is our greatest richness. We are ready to cooperate with India in order to increase the trade volume.”

Mentioning that Kayseri is one of Turkey’s most important developing centres, Kulshreshth said: “We can encourage businessmen from Kayseri and India to develop trade. We have a very nice political cooperation from the past. The trade volume with Turkey had been at a level of 6.5 billion dollar last year. Since both countries are G-20 members, we have potentials that have to be developed. We see that the trade volume between the two countries has increased 7 times in the last 10 years. Indian businessmen have great interest for Turkey which is gradually increasing.”

Kulshreshth also emphasized that he found Kayseri above expectation to be a very nice planned orderly city and said: “A very nice, well-planned and very orderly city. You have played an important role in achieving this. I congratulate you and your team.”
